Many job seekers place their resumes online with a variety of job sites. This tactic has proven successful for some, percentage wise it is still a low success job search strategy, there are a couple of items that can increase your chances of being noticed by a recruiter.
- Be specific in your resume by tailoring the content to your target position/industry. Those who keep the information on their resumes very broad tend to be contacted for jobs they have little interest in pursuing.
- Update your resume periodically. By updating your resume and resubmitting the document (ex: change some formatting) to the site, your resume gets back to the top of the pile. Most sites allow recruiters to view recent resume postings so I recommend updating you document every 10 days.
