January = Promotion?

Do you know the month when most in-house promotions occur?

From the title, you guessed it, January.  A recent LinkedIn study revealed that most promotions occurred in the year’s first month – although the stranglehold January used to have promotions is weakening.  This is especially true for younger employees who experience a more even distribution of promotions throughout the year.

As one may have guessed, promotion cycles differ by industry, but what may be a surprise to many is the promotion cycles differ by countries.  An example is India – April holds the “Promotion Month” title – and France (and most of Southern Europe) sees a significant surge in September, after summer vacations conclude.
