Hope Springs Eternal…

Anyone who has spent a winter in South Bend can attest to the dreary, grey days where constant cloud cover seems to be the norm.  Just yesterday, there was a three-hour break where bright sunshine beat down and I found myself standing in front of a window enjoying the warmth.  As I turned around, I saw my dog had curled up in a sunny spot on the carpet – she too enjoying the small respite from an otherwise depressing past three weeks of winter weather.

Just as the sun-starved South Bender needs a shot of sunshine to rekindle hope that better days are ahead, job hunters could use some good news that the job front is improving.  For those who seek some good news, check out the USA Today article where economists predict better hiring in 2011:

Just as three hours of sunshine did not usher in an early Spring to South Bend, the article does not predict, nor promise, roses for the unemployed.  The economy is growing, but at a slower rate than past recoveries.  Unemployment is predicted to drop in 2011, but not back to 2007 levels.  Still, bask in some good news for a change and why not share this piece of sunshine with someone else who could use a ray of hope.
