Interviewing – Asking Questions

Often, the final segment in an interview is where you are encouraged to ask questions of the potential employer.  It is of paramount importance to ask good questions as it will show a true interest in the job and employer.

There are no standard ‘good’ questions, rather standard reasons why a question is good.

  • Does the question show research without being showy?
  • Does the question show the person was listening to the employer’s needs?
  • Does the question elicit information that would not be accessible just by researching the company or industry?
  • Will this question help you decide if you want the position?

Remember, this is an opportunity for you to conduct some more research to ensure the opportunity is a good one for you.
